We are asked this question everyday. The answer is yes and no.
Yes, we are like the videos you can purchase on the televsion in that we use many identical aerobic/martial arts moves during the aerobic (30-40 minutes) of the classes. In fact all of our instructors have seen and done his whole set of infomercial video's. We found that the moves are basic martial arts moves and are pretty much the same as the CardioKARATE Certification program teaches their instructors. You might say we are that and more...because we add the features listed below.
No, we are differnt from the video workout in that we also teach self-defense moves, actual combinations you could use on an opponent, and resistance training by slipping on those boxing gloves and punching the heavy bags. This "bag section" of the class is a favorite of many, and is also a great stress reliever. Since you can only do video training at the moment by watching a video alone, it appears the biggest difference is that in our classes you get personalized instruction from our instructors, and the comraderie of your classmates.
We've taken the excitement, music, and energy of an aerobics program, but added punching, blocking, and kicking in an action-packed workout! You will burn up to 800 calories an hour, more than any other exercise, doing aerobic kickboxing to music. Stress and aggression melt away when we put on the hand wraps and gloves to work the heavy bag.
